St Andrews Debuts Caddie College

The St. Andrews Links Trust is developing what officials are calling the worlds first caddie qualification school. Interest in the school is phenomenal, said officials.
Particulars on the course, which begins in the autumn, are on the company website. Caddies will be able to complete the course at their own pace and graduates will gain the St. Andrews Standard and become registered caddies. They will be required to take refresher courses every two years.
The course comprises three stages including 40 hours of theory, covering golf etiquette, the history and the role of caddies, how to make yardage books, the rules of golf, and customer care. Students then caddie for 30 rounds with golfers.
As part of their flexible learning course, overseas caddies will be able to complete their assessed rounds at their home courses. However, one round must be completed at St. Andrews.
