Stanley Wins Am of the Month

Incoming Clemson freshman golfer Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor, Wash., has become one of the rare unanimous selections as the Southern Golf Associations National Amateur of the Month. Stanley, 18, swept the selection panel votes with a remarkable July run in which he won two major amateur events finished third in two others.
Stanley won the Sahalee Players Championship in his Washington home state with a playoff eagle, then won the milestone 100th Southern Amateur Championship with a 9-under-par total at the demanding C.C. of Birminghams West Course. He added the third-place finishes in the Players Amateur in South Carolina and an AJGA major junior event at Bay Hill Club in Orlando.
The impressive showing moved young Stanley into the top ten of the Golfweek/Titleist amateur rankings. His victory in the Southern Amateur carries with it an invitation to compete in the PGA Tours Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill next March.
