Strudwick Leads Entering Weekend in Daytona

Suzanne Strudwick shot a 69 Friday to assume the outright lead at the LPGA Final Qualifyng Tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Through three rounds over the LPGA Internationals Legends Course, the nine-year veteran of the tour sits well ahead of anyone in the field.
At 7-under-par 209, she is five better than 18-year-old Natalie Gubis and Suzy Green, who share a spot of second entering the weekend.
Strudwick is hoping to finish the week in the top-18 finishers, as those lucky individuals will be granted fully-exempt status on the 2002 LPGA Tour, while the top-35 will receive non-exempt status.
Strudwicks goals are simple ' she wants to win.
'I'm basically here to get my status and win, she said. I was 108th on the money list, so I would have had some status anyway.'
With her comfortable lead, her goals might well be met with one more round of solid golf.
The cut came Friday at 9-over 225 and included 77 players.
