Sunshine Days Continue on Champions Tour

The Champions Tour makes its third straight stop in the Sunshine State for this weeks $1.6 million Verizon Classic.
Eighty-one players will vie for the $240,000 first-place prize at the TPC of Tampa Bay in Lutz, Fla., near Tampa..
Doug Tewell will try to become the first player in the tournaments 15-year history to successfully defend his title. He won last years edition by one over Hale Irwin.
Bob Charles (1989, 91) and Jim Albus (1993, 98) are the only repeat winners in the event.
The field features a host of legends, including Ben Crenshaw, Irwin, Tom Kite, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson and Fuzzy Zoeller.
Nicklaus is scheduled to make his second start in as many weeks. He tied for 58th in last weeks ACE Group Classic, shooting 76-71-72. He made only two tour starts all of last year due to reccurring back problems.
Watson tied for second in Naples. Amazingly, he has never won in 84 career starts in the state of Florida.
'I guess Florida's just not my state,' Watson said after last week's result.
