Sutton Withdraws from Open

Hal Sutton_HSHal Sutton has officially pulled out of the Open Championship at Royal Lytham and St. Annes, citing recurring back problems as his reason for withdrawing.
Sutton, the 1983 PGA champion, has played in just four Opens since 1987, and has missed the cut on two of those occasions. This year, he has recorded three top-10 finishes in 19 events on the PGA Tour, his best coming as a win at the Shell Houston Open.
The 43-year-old Sutton becomes the fourth player from the United States to withdraw, joining Kirk Triplett, Lee Janzen and Notah Begay.
Australian Nick OHern will also miss the tournament due to a broken wrist.
