Torrance Rules Out 2004 Ryder Cup Captaincy

Sam Torrance has confirmed he doesnt want to captain the European Ryder Cup team for a second straight occasion. He said he doesnt wish to try and defend the Cup in 2004 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan.
Sam TorranceThe 49-year-old Scot led the Europeans to victory last week at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England. He was credited with devising an aggressive game plan in the Sunday singles, and being a leader his team could rally around.
If selected, I feel that I would be the sentimental choice rather than the reasonable choice for the captaincy, Torrance said.
By the time of the next Matches, I will have been on the Seniors Tour for almost two years and wont have been playing with the players week in and week out as I did this time.
It is very tempting, but it wouldnt be right for the team and that, in the end, is the most important thing.
England's Nick Faldo has also said he does not wish to captain the team in two years. His decision was based on the fact that he feels he can qualify for a 12th time.
