Tour Travels to California

Two different Johns have won it. So has a Jack. A Jim won it once, and the same Joe won three years in a row.
But last year it was a Tom, who beat another Tom, who won the SBC Classic.
Tom Kite beat Tom Watson in a playoff to claim his fifth career Champions Tour title. It was his second of three victories on the season.
Kite won at the par-72, 6,905-yard Valencia Country Club, which will again play host for the third straight year.
The 53-year-old will try and become the third player to successfully defend his crown. Gil Morgan won in 1996 and 97. Joe Inman won in 98, 99 and 2000.
This is the 14th playing of the event. The purse is $1.5 million, with $225,000 going to the winner.
The tour has spent the last month in Florida. This is the first of two consecutive events in California (Toshiba Senior Classic) before it returns to the Sunshine State, following a three-week hiatus, for Emreald Coast Classic.
