Tours Hottest Player Returns to Action

Heath Slocum returns to action as the Buy.Com Tour travels to Wichita, Kan., for the Wichita Open.

The tours leading money winner this year is one of the hottest players anywhere. He has a pair of victories and a third-place finish in his previous three starts. One more win and hell become just the second player (Chris Smith in 1997) to earn a battlefield promotion to the PGA Tour.
Slocum skipped last weeks Hershey Open.
A year ago, Ben Crane became the 12th Monday qualifier in tour history to reach the winners circle when he shot rounds of 67-63-66-67. Cranes 25-under-par total was one stroke shy of the 72-hole tour record set by Smith at the 1997 Omaha Classic.
This years tournament will be contested at the par-72 Crestview Country Club (7,000 yards). Willowbend Golf Club was the venue from 1997-2000.
The purse is $425,000, with $76,500 going to the winner.
