Trio on Top at Glenmaura

2005 Northeast Pennsylvania ClassicMatt Weibring, Greg Kraft and David Morland IV each posted rounds of 6-under-par 65 on Thursday to share the first-round lead of Northeast Pennsylvania Classic.
Erik Compton, Doug Garwood, Johnson Wagner, Bubba Watson, Steve LeBrun and Joseph Alfieri are tied for fourth place at 5-under-par 66 at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
Weibring, who started on the back nine, birdied five of his first eight holes Thursday to fly into the lead. He bogeyed the 18th, but birdied six and eight to get into the clubhouse at minus-6.
'You can't fake it around here, you've got to hit it well and putt well,' said Weibring, who missed only one fairway and two greens in round one. 'You have to drive it good and be in the fairways. You're going to have to play some golf.'
Weibring has a piece of the lead for the first time in his young Nationwide Tour career.
'It's a marathon, not a sprint,' said the 25-year-old son of Champions Tour player D.A. Weibring. 'It's good to get off to a good start so I can maybe feel a little more relaxed tomorrow. It helps me know that anything under par will probably be a good score.'
Kraft, a former member of the PGA Tour, tallied only one birdie through his first 11 holes. He closed with five additional birdies, something Kraft expected.
'It was a day where everything was in the slot,' he said. 'You don't get many like that.'
Morland mixed seven birdies and a single bogey over his opening round.
Ryan Armour, Jay Delsing, Nathan Green, Jeff Gove, Tim O'Neal and Dave Cunningham are tied for 10th place at 4-under-par 67.
