Trophee Lancome Offers Reduced Fee for 2002

The tournament director of the European Tour's Trophee Lancome tournament has offered a 30 percent discount to next year's event to compensate for Tiger Woods' abrupt withdrawal from this year's tourney. Woods decided to stay home in the United States following last week's tragedy.
Tournament director Peter German is offering the reduction to those who complained of Woods' absence. He said a discount is a way of saying, 'sorry you've been disappointed' at the French tournament.
He declined to give frustrated patrons a refund for this year's tournament.
