Tryon Just Two Back in Second Stage of Q-School

PGA Tour (75x100)Seventeen-year-old standout Ty Tryon continues to impress, as the high school junior moved one step closer to gaining his 2002 PGA Tour card on Thursday.
Tryon recorded an even-par 72 in the third round of the second stage of Qualifying School at Orange County National in Orlando, Fla.
At 6-under-par 210, he sits in outright second, behind former PGA Tour veteran Jim McGovern. McGovern shot 70 on Thursday to reach 8-under, while a host of others, including ex-PGA Tour faces Scott Gump and Marco Dawson are at 5-under.
The story continues to be Tryon, however, as on Tuesday, the local resident of Orlando blitzed Orange County National in 63 and found himself atop the leaderboard at 9-under.
However, a Wednesday 75 in windy, rainy conditions saw him slide back slightly.
The four round event concludes Friday with the top 19 players and ties advancing to the final stage.
