Two Chances Left for Nelson and Doyle

This weeks SBC Championship is one of two remaining events on the Senior PGA Tour calendar, and the final opportunity for players to qualify for the Senior Tour Championship.
The top 31 players on the money list following this weeks event in San Antonio, Texas, will gain entry into the season finale at the Gaillardia Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City.
This is the 18th version of the SBC Championship, but for the first time it will be contested at the Oak Hills Country Club. The tournament had been held at the Dominion Country Club since its inception in 1985.
Larry Nelson is the defending champion, having bested Gary McCord and Bob Gilder by two strokes. This year, however, the 55-year-old has endured his worst season ever as a senior. He has yet to win and is outside the top 10 in earnings.
Nelson won 11 times combined in 2000 and 2001, and has never finished worse than fourth on the money list in four prior full seasons.
Nelson isnt the only player trying to break an 0fer in 02. Allen Doyle, last years Player of the Year, hasnt won this season either. Both men will qualify for the Tour Championship.
Lee Trevino (1991 and 92) and Jim Albus (1994 and 95) are the only players to successfully defend their titles in this event. This years purse is $1.45 million, with $217,500 going to the winner.
