US Open a Sellout for 18th Time

FAR HILLS, N.J. (AP) -- Tickets for the 2004 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills are sold out - the 18th straight year the tournament is a sellout.
The U.S. Golf Association announced the sellout Wednesday. The public was able to submit ticket applications between June 16 and Aug. 15, and a computerized drawing was completed Aug. 28.
The string of sellouts started with the 1987 U.S. Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Shinnecock Hills will host the Open for the fourth time. Corey Pavin won the last time it was held on the Long Island course, finishing at even-par 280 in 1995.
