Glover and Cassini ' respective graduates of Clemson and Georgia Universities ' teamed in the morning to defeat the highly-touted duo of Luke Donald and Nick Dougherty of GB&I 4-and-3.
Then each man won his singles match in the afternoon portion of the first of two days of competition.
Glover defeated Michael Hoey 1-up, while Cassini beat Nigel Edwards 5-and-4.
Two-and-0 against the best amateurs in the world is pretty good, I think, said a modest Glover following the match.
Also winning for the U.S. on Day 1 was the No. 1 collegiate player on the GolfWeek/Saragin Rankings Bryce Molder.
Molder beat Graeme McDowell 2-and-1 in the afternoon, after both he and partner David Eger halved their match with Jamie Elson and Richard McEvoy in the morning.
Another 12 points are open for the taking in Sundays final matches. Foursomes begin at 8am ET, with the first of eight singles matches scheduled to start at 1pm.
