Van de Velde to Co-Host Major Meltdowns

ORLANDO, Fla. ' Jean Van de Velde, forever remembered for his final hole, triple-bogey that eventually cost him the Open Championship in 1999, next week will co-host a Golf Channel special titled Major Meltdowns: Handle the Pressure, which will recall some of the most memorable collapses in major-championship history.
Highlighting The Golf Channels British Open Week coverage, the hour-long special will air Wednesday, July 16, at 9:30 p.m. ET. Van de Velde will join Kelly Tilghman on location at Royal St. Georges Golf Club in England, with Rich Lerner and Peter Oosterhuis live from The Golf Channel studios in Orlando. Van de Velde also will be seen on The Golf Channel throughout the week, serving as guest analyst for the Sprint Pre Game and Sprint Post Game, as well as Golf Central.
Who could forget Scott Hochs missed putt at the 1989 Masters, which cost him his best shot at a major championship? And what about Greg Normans final-round 78 at the 96 Masters, opening the door for Nick Faldo to win his third green jacket? Major Meltdowns: Handling the Pressure will recall some of the most tension-filled moments that changed careers forever and became golfing lore.
Also joining the show will be Dr. Bob Rotella, noted sports psychologist and performance consultant, who has analyzed and exposed the doubts, fears and frustrations golfers feel when faced with pressure-filled situations.
The Golf Channels British Open Week coverage begins Monday, July 14, at 8 p.m. ET with a British Open preview. News conferences from the golf course with notable players also will be telecast Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET and Thursday and Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET. Highlights from the news conferences will be seen in prime time Tuesday and Wednesday, and during the Sprint Pre Game and Post Game shows.
