Van der Walt Tracking in Louisiana

In the second-to-last event on the Buy.Com Tours 2001 season, Tjaart Van der Walt is making his bid for the next level.
At 19th on the current money list, Van der Walt shot a 64 Thursday at the Southern Trace Golf Club to take the outright lead in the Shreveport Open, and get that bit closer to moving on to the PGA Tour.
Van der Walt sits at 8-under-par through the first round in Louisiana, one stroke better than Brian Kamm and Bob Heintz, and two better than two others.
Meanwhile, four players, including Pat Bates and Fran Quinn, are three off the pace with scores of 67.
Following this weeks event is the season-ending Tour Championship, which will be held at the Capitol Hill Golf Facility, and after that event, the top-15 players on the money list will graduate to the lucrative PGA Tour.
At No. 19 on the list entering this weeks event, Van der Walt appears to be in nice shape to possibly climb into the desired slot.
But hes not counting his chickens just yet.
Said Van der Walt of his chances: Im not worrying about where I am on the money list. It will take care of itself.
