Webb Defends for First Time in 2001

The LPGA Tour moves from Naples to Miami, Fla., for The Office Depot; where Karrie Webb will defend the first of seven titles she won in 2000.
Webb is coming off a runner-up finish at this past week's Subaru Memorial of Naples. Subaru winner Sophie Gustafson will join her in the South Florida field.
Battling gusty weekend conditions, Gustafson fired rounds of 68-64-70-70 en route to tying the tournament record at 16-under in Naples. It marked the Swede's third LPGA title over the past nine months.
Also scheduled to compete in the four-round event are Helen Alfredsson, Beth Daniel, Laura Davies, Juli Inkster, Meg Mallon, Dottie Pepper and Se Ri Pak. Pak won the season-opening YourLife Vitamins LPGA Classic in Orlando, but skipped last week's event due to a bout with strep throat.
The Office Depot was the inaugural event in 2000. Webb opened in 7-under-par 65 at the Ibis Golf & Country Club, and then held on for a four-stroke victory over Inkster.
This year's tournament will be contested at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa (Blue and Red Courses). The purse is $825,000, with the winner earning $123,750.
