June 12, 1948 ' Riviera nicknamed Hogans Alley after Ben Hogan wins the U.S. Open there by two strokes.
 
June 13, 1932 ' Gene Sarazen, en route to British Open title at Princes Golf Course, keeps his sand wedge hidden upside down in bag, fearing the R&A might outlaw it
 
June 13, 1953 ' Hogan wins U.S. Open, the second leg in year in which he won three majors. He was the first player to play a 72-hole medal event in an under-par score at Oakmont Country Club.
 
June 14, 1970 ' Shirley Englehorn wins fourth tournament in 30 days ' the LPGA Championship. She won the Loudoff Chevrolet Invitational May 17, didnt win the Bluegrass Invitational, then won the next three in succession ' the OSullivan Open, the Lady Carling Open, and the LPGA.
