The Wichita State University mens golf team won its third tournament of the year after shooting a 54-hole total of 885 (288-285-312) at the Irish Spring Invitational on the par 72, 6,901 yard Mission Inn Golf Course.
Senior Judd Easterling fired a final round 74 to win his second tournament of the spring with a 54-hole total of 215 (67-74-74). Easterling finished five strokes ahead of three players tied for second. One of those three was sophomore Jesse Schulte who shot rounds of 72-71-77 for a 220. Schultes second place finish is his best of the year. Senior Ty Cline finished in sixth place with a 222 after shooting rounds of 74-69-79. Ryan Spears continued a strong freshman campaign finishing tied for 14th with a 228 (75-71-82). Rounding out the scoring for the Shockers was sophomore Cameron Bishop who finished tied for 59th with a 245 (80-81-84).
Wichita State finished four strokes ahead of second place Colorado State (889, 289-296-304) and 25 strokes ahead of third place San Diego State (910, 301-292-317). The tournament featured teams from the Big East, Big 10, SEC, and Pac 10.
The Shockers hit the links again March 15-16 as they travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Pioneer Classic.
