Wie to Make Pro Debut on TGC


2005 Samsung World ChampionshipORLANDO, Fla. ' Just eight days after turning pro at the age of 15, golfs new $10 million woman, Michelle Wie, will make her professional debut at the Samsung World Championship in Palm Desert, Calif., beginning Thursday on The Golf Channel.

Michelle Wie has three runner-up finishes on the LPGA Tour this season.
Live coverage from Bighorn Golf Club tees off Thursday at 5 p.m. ET, and continues Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Sundays final round will air on NBC-TV. The Golf Channel also will televise prime-time replays of the action earlier in the day: Thursday, 8:30 ' 10:30 p.m. ET and Friday, 8 ' 10 p.m. ET.
Wie announced her ascension to the professional ranks this past Wednesday. She will celebrate her 16th birthday just two days before the opening round of the Samsung World Championship.
There will be a buzz around this tournament like never before, said Golf Channel Analyst Dottie Pepper.
Although the Samsung event is Wies professional debut, the teen phenom has plenty of tournament experience, having already played in 24 LPGA Tour events and three PGA Tour events in her young career.
Wie has competed in seven LPGA events this season. She has three runner-up finishes, including at the McDonalds LPGA Championship. She was also third at the Weetabix Womens British Open.
