Wittenberg to Turn Pro After US Open

Casey Wittenberg will turn professional following the U.S. Open, the Golf Channel learned Friday. Wittenberg, a freshman at Oklahoma State University, was the 2003 U.S. Amateur runner-up, losing to Australian Nick Flannagan in 37 holes in the final at Oakmont Country Club.
Wittenberg won the prestigous Southern Amateur Championship. He has competed in both the Walker and Palmer cups.
He also performed brilliantly at this year's Masters Tournament, where he was the low amateur by tying for 13th.
The 19-year-old is currently trying to lead his Cowboys golf team into the NCAA Championship.
