Women Win Wendys Three-Tour Challenge


The formidable trio of Dottie Pepper, Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb beat the forces of the PGA and Senior PGA Tours in the tape-delayed Wendys Three-Tour Challenge.
The matches ' which were played on Nov. 6, but aired on television Saturday and Sunday ' were contested at the SouthShore Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
The win marks the first for the womens squad in nine years. The inaugural edition took place in 1992 at the New Albany Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio.
While the PGA Tour was the defending champs for the event, the team of Fred Couples, John Daly and Mark Calcavecchia couldnt match up with their female competitors.
Neither could the Senior team of Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Fuzzy Zoeller.
For their win, Sorenstam, Webb and Pepper split a first-place purse of $350,000.
