Womens Scottish Open Sends Plea for Help

RSS

The women's Scottish Open is no better than 50-50 to survive, says Evian Tour chief executive Tim Howland.

The Scottish Executive is being beseeched with a plea for help, 'but it is being very stingy towards women's golf,' said Howland. 'We have been given 80,000 pounds (approximately $120,000) for the International Matchplay Championship at Gleneagles in September, but absolutely no commitment to the Scottish Open the following week.'

The Scottish Open was to have been the first women's 72-hole stroke play event in Scotland since the demise two years of the WPGA Championship. The venue has not been announced.
