Woods Again the Favorite


Four the fourth time this year, Tiger Woods is the betting-mans favorite entering a major championship.
Woods is a 2/1 favorite by many British betting parlors to win the PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Atlanta, Ga.
Woods was a 7/4 favorite to win the Masters Tournament, which he did. He nearly entered the U.S. Open as a pickem. Odds were as low as 11/10 that Tiger would claim his second straight U.S. Open trophy, though he finished tied for 12th.
Tiger then tied for 25th in the Open Championship, where he went off as a 9/4 favorite.
Open champion David Duval is the next best bet to win the Wanamaker Trophy. Duval is a 12/1 favorite.
Europes best bet is Sergio Garcia; he, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh are at 20/1. Ernie Els and Davis Love III are at 25/1.
Reigning U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen is at 40/1 odds, along with Colin Montgomerie and Jesper Parnevik.
Woods is vying for his third consecutive PGA Championship victory. If the odds are right, hed be the first player since Walter Hagen (1924-27) to accomplish that feat.
