Woods Els to Team in Primetime

The top two players in the world will team together in the Lincoln Financial Battle at The Bridges.
Tiger Woods and Ernie Els will face Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia in a one-round, two-player better-ball duel to be televised live Monday, July 28 at 8 PM from The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe in California.
Mickelson lives in nearby San Diego, and is a member at The Bridges.
This is the fifth-annual primetime event featuring Woods. He defeated David Duval head-to-head in 1999, and then lost to Garcia the following year. Woods and Annika Sorenstam teamed to defeat Duval and Karrie Webb in 2001. He then joined forces with Jack Nicklaus to beat Garcia and Lee Trevino last year.
The first match, in 1999, was held at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. The last three editions were contested at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert.
Television ratings have consistently decreased since 2000. The Woods-Garcia battle drew an overnight 8.6 rating and 14 share; the Woods-Duval match had a 7.4 rating and 12 share.
Each rating point represents 1.02 million homes. The share is the percentage of home with TVs in use.
The first inter-gender team match, which was marred by slow and sloppy play, drew an overnight 5.9 rating; last year dipped to 5.3.
