The event will take place Monday, July 29 at the Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif. ABC Sports will air the match beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Woods and Nicklaus will compete against Garcia and Trevino in a better-ball, match-play format. In this format, each golfer plays his ball and the better score of the two counts for the team.
Last year, Woods and Annika Sorenstam defeated David Duval and Karrie Webb in an alternate-shot, match-play format at Bighorn. It was the third playing of the made-for television event.
The first playing was in 1999, when Woods defeated Duval 2-and-1 in the Showdown at Sherwood. In 2000, Garcia bettered Woods 1-up at Bighorn.
The winners of the event will split $1.2 million, while the runners-up will divide $500,000. A total of $300,000 will be contributed to charity, with the players designating a portion of their winnings.
