Woosnam Torrance James Try for Open


Ian Woosnam will battle for his place in the British Open against almost 400 players in 36 holes of final qualifying.
Woosnam, who won the Masters title in 1991,is joined by Ryder Cup captains Sam Torrance and Mark James in a bid for places in the championship field.
Constantino Rocca, a three-time Ryder Cup player who lost in a play-off to John Daly in the 1995 Open at St Andrews, is also hoping to gain his place through final qualifying.
Other Ryder Cup players taking part are Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain, Per Ulrik Johansson and Jarmo Sandelin of Sweden.
Final qualifying takes place at North Foreland, Littlestone, Prince's and Royal Cinque Ports on Sunday and Monday, July 13-14. Entry is free for spectators.
