As the back to school season begins around the country, this event enters its sophomore year on the Nationwide Tour, with tournament host Irondequoit Country Club carrying all the books.
Last August, in the tournaments freshman year, Rick Price made a clutch up and down on the 72nd hole to secure a 1-stroke victory over newcomer Andrew Pratt, his first on the Nationwide Tour.
Price played safe on Sunday through the rolling hills at Irondequoit. He hit all 14 fairways, and made clutch putts on the 10th, 12th, and 16th hole en route to a 1-over 71, to finish at 11-under par 269 for the tournament
Pratt, who was a Monday qualifier for the event, nearly took Price to a playoff as he almost holed out his chip shot for birdie on the 18th hole. With his par, Pratt finished at 10-under par and took home a runner-up finish in just his second event ever on the Nationwide Tour.
This years tournament offers a purse of $575,000, with the winner receiving $103,500. Four days of coverage begins Thursday, August 10th at 1:30pm EST on The Golf Channel.
Next up, the Nationwide Tour finds themselves in the foothills of the Keystone State as players will contend for the 2006 Northeast Pennsylvania Classic.
