Zam Bam

Chris Zambri had visions of 59 dancing through his head on Thursday. But he had to settle for a ho-hum 63, still good enough for the 1st-round lead in the Buy.Com Boise Open at the Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Id.
Zambri, currently 47th on the 2000 money list, was 9-under through his first 11 holes in the first round. Beginning on the par-35 back nine, Zambri went out in 7-under-par 28. The 29-year-old then added two more birdies to begin the front nine, before a double bogey 6 at the 6th derailed any chance he had at shooting the mythical number.
At 8-under, Zambri is three-shot clear of Tim Clark, Spike McRoy and Bo Van Pelt. Clark, who won the 1997 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, and McRoy are each seeking their second titles of the season.
This is Zambri's fourth-consecutive year on the Buy.Com Tour. He has yet to win an event in 97 career starts.
