Ziegler Zags to NFL Lead

Larry Ziegler, who won his last Senior Tour event with former baseball great George Brett as his caddie, is in position to win the NFL Golf Classic.
Ziegler fired a 5-under-par 67 at the Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, N.J. to take a one-shot lead at 8-under over Jim Holtgrieve.
Holtgrieve led after a first-round 65, but could only muster an even-par 72 in round two. He double bogeyed the par-4 9th to make the turn in 3-over-par 39 Saturday. He recovered on the back nine with birdies on the 11th, 15th and 16th holes.
Ziegler is seeking his first tour title since the 1998 St. Lukes Classic. Saturday, he notched six birdies to just one bogey.
Former quarterback Glenn Foley won the NFL Players tournament. Foley carded a 1-over-par 73 to better last years champion Craig Hentrich by one shot.
Foley won $30,000, which he will award to the charity of his choice.
