Zoeller Fine After Angioplasty

Fuzzy Zoeller expects to be able to defend his title in the Champions Tours season-opening MasterCard Championship, despite having angioplasty to alleviate blockage in two coronary arteries.
Zoeller, 53, underwent the operation on Dec. 30. One of Zoellers main arteries was 80 percent blocked while a secondary artery was 70 percent obstructed. The blockage was discovered after a routine, two-day physical, Dec. 28-29.
Zoeller spent one night in the hospital before being released. He is currently in Naples, Fla., preparing for the 2005 season. The MasterCard Championship will be contested Jan. 21-23 in Kaupulehu-Kona, Hawaii. The Golf Channel will televise all three rounds live.
He played 18 holes of golf (Wednesday), and when I asked him how he was feeling, he joked in typical Fuzzy form by saying, Well, it didnt kill me! said Dave Lobeck, president of Fuzzy Zoeller Productions. He then stated in all honesty, he felt great.
Zoeller won last years tournament by one stroke over Dana Quigley. It was his second career tour title (2002 Senior PGA Championship).
