Video: Improve your lag putting, lower your scores

East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, site of this week’s Tour Championship, is among the most demanding tests the players on the PGA Tour face each year, and one of the main reasons for that is a treacherous set of greens.
At East Lake, long, fast, breaking putts are the rule and not the exception. Being able to read the greens properly and control speed are crucial factors in managing the golf course, and there’s little doubt that this week’s winner will have an excellent putting week.
While most amateur golfers won’t see greens as diabolical as East Lake’s very often, the reality is that for the average player or high handicapper long, fast, breaking putts typically result in three-putts, or worse, which can derail a round in a hurry.
In this video segment, LPGA Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam has some great tips to help you improve your lag putting, which happens by matching up the speed and the line correctly on long putts.
If you can put these ideas into practice, you’ll get the ball closer to the hole from long distance more often and the result will be fewer 3-putts and lower scores.
