A shot that typically gives average golfers all sorts of problems is hitting a fairway wood, and especially a 3-wood, off of the ground.
The most common mistake that leads to poor shots with fairway woods is that the player tries to help the ball in the air as opposed to using the loft of the club and the speed of the swing to handle that task.
