Tip of the Week: Keep your head still when putting

Putting is a huge part of the game of golf but it rarely gets the full attention it deserves from many average golfers, who instead are obsessed with trying to drive their ball 300 yards and stuff every iron shot they hit.

But in light of the announcement Wednesday by the USGA and R&A of a proposed anchoring ban when it comes to putting, that aspect of the game has never been more in the spotlight.

It’s important to remember, however, that there are fundamentals in putting that need to be observed no matter what approach you choose, and in this video segment LPGA Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam has a great tip to help you keep your head still during your stroke, which is crucial if you hope to hole more putts.

Try this drill the next time you practice and it’s sure to help your putting, especially if you’re someone who has been anchoring a long or belly putter and planning to go back to a conventional putter.
