Video: Utilize the cable rotation drill to add distance

RSS

All you have to do is look at the course set up this coming weekend for the Ryder Cup to understand that in many ways golf has become a bomber’s game.

U.S. Captain Davis Love III has opted for limited rough and a wider intermediate cut so that his guys can let it rip off the tee, fire at flags and make a bunch of birdies.

In terms of the average player, golf courses are getting longer and longer every year and the technology in new golf clubs makes escaping from the rough easier than ever.

In short, if you want to keep up with the masses, it’s time to maximize your power game, and one great way to do that is by making a stronger commitment to fitness, something almost every touring pro has done in the last decade or so.

In this video segment, Kai Fusser, Director of Fitness at Annika Academy, shares a great exercise that mimics the full swing and will help you create a more powerful move. With a weight cable or resistance band, rotate around your core from downswing to finish.

The best part about this drill is that even if golf season is winding down where you live, you can do this all winter. And if you do, you’ll add more distance to your game.
