36-hole leader Jimenez falls off pace

GULLANE, Scotland – There was so much focus on the top of the leaderboard Saturday at the British Open that it was easy to bypass those who faltered.

Miguel Angel Jimenez was the 36-hole leader and struggled by shooting 77. He’s tied for 11th place, six shots behind Lee Westwood.

Jimenez made four bogeys in the first eight holes but seemed to weather the poor play with birdies on Nos. 9 and 13, but he played the last five holes in 4 over to fall back.

Dustin Johnson is still in position to continue his streak of top-15 finishes at the British Open (he has three) but will need to play well Sunday. Johnson shot 76 and was 5 over after the first eight holes. He made birdies on the 11th and 13th holes but bogeyed 14 and 16 and is tied for 11th place with six others.
