Kuchar began the final round at Liberty National with a share of the lead at 12 under alongside Gary Woodland. He made bogey on his opening hole, then followed that with seven consecutive pars. Kuchar was among the co-leaders until things took a turn for the worse at the 474-yard par 4 ninth.
Kuchar's tee shot sailed into water left of the fairway. He then had to drop where the ball first entered the water some 330+ yards from the green. Hitting three, Kuchar laid up to 108 yards in the fairway, hit his fourth to the front fringe 39 feet short of the green, chipped up to 8 feet and took two putts from there for a triple-bogey seven that dropped him to 8 under.
He went on to make bogeys at Nos. 10, 13, 15 and 17 before making his lone birdie of the day at the 18th.
In total, Kuchar carded a final-round 7-over 78 that resulted in a T-19 showing.
