Acushnet, Callaway say Pro V1 dispute settled

Acushnet, parent company of Titleist and FootJoy, and Callaway Golf on Friday announced a settlement of all pending litigation and disputes.

The settlement covers a multiyear dispute dating back to 2006 over golf ball patents pertaining to the Titleist Pro V1 and patents Callaway claimed were violated in the development of the ball. Under terms of the agreement, each company has agreed to grant rights to make golf equipment under patents owned by the competing company.

Details of the settlement were not disclosed, but according to a statement, no money changed hands.
