CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Anthony Kim has been one of the game’s hottest players of late, including his victory at the Shell Houston Open and third-place finish at the Masters, so it should come as no surprise that AK is atop the leaderboard at the Quail Hollow Championship, an event he’s won before.
That is, of course, unless you consider that Kim is one bad swing away from having surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb.
“It bothers me on some swings, but when you're making birdies, it doesn't hurt as bad. And then when you make a bogey, it tingles a little bit more. And then when you make a couple bogeys, it doesn't hurt at all,” Kim joked on Tuesday.
Kim is 5 under through eight holes, so the thumb must be feeling fine.
