The LPGA will be returning to Hawaii for the first time since 2009, the LPGA said Thursday in a release.
The LPGA Lotte Championship Presented by J Golf will be played April 18-21 on Oahu. J Golf is the LPGA's broadcast partner in South Korea and Lotte is a conglomerate serving Japan and South Korea in a host of industries. The event will end on Saturday and will be broadcast by Golf Channel.
The full-field event will be played with a $1.7 million purse. The LPGA says a venue will be announced later but the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the likely destination is Ko Olina, a Ted Robinson design on the west coast of the island that previously hosted an LPGA event.
'We are honored to host the LPGA Lotte Championship in Hawaii and to showcase our business, as well as the world's best golfers, to a global stage,' LPGA commissioner Mike Whan said.
