Another change atop Rolex womens rankings

RSS

How close is the battle for No. 1 in women’s professional golf?

Ai Miyazato regained the top spot from Cristie Kerr in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking by ten thousandths of a decimal point this week.

Miyazato’s point average is 10.2656, compared to Kerr’s 10.2650.

Kerr and Miyazato didn't play last week, but their averages changed with the two-year rollover window changing.

Miyazato takes the top spot to France this week, where she’ll defend her title at the Evian Masters. After a disappointing start to her LPGA career, Miyazato broke through last summer to make the Evian Masters her first LPGA title. She’s added four titles this year.

Over the last 13 weeks, there have been four changes atop the Rolex rankings. Over the first four years of the rankings, just two names topped the rankings (Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa).

After Ochoa’s retirement in April, Jiyai Shin took the No. 1 ranking for seven weeks, Miyazato then took over for a week with Cristie Kerr ruling for three weeks before Miyazato’s return to No. 1 this week.
