Apple of Points eye

BETHESDA, Md. – Of all the reasons we’ve noted for improved play Friday’s take from D.A. Points was a first.

Points, who has posted rounds of 64-70 and is tied for fifth at Congressional, said one of the reasons for his solid play of late is a new purchase. No, not a new putter or driver, but the just-released iPhone 3GS with built-in video capabilities.

“It’s amazing,” said Points, who has his caddie video him with the new device and then e-mail it to his swing coach Brian Mogg in central Florida. “We can see everything, frame by frame.”

We’ve had players thank swing coaches, sports psychologists, fitness gurus, but never has a champion given credit to Apple frontman Steve Jobs for a victory.
