Appleby named 2010 PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year

Stuart Appleby was named Monday the 2010 PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year. Appleby earned the award via a vote by his follow competitors following a season which included a final-round 59 en route to winning the Greenbrier Classic.

Appleby was selected over Rocco Mediate and Arjun Atwal.

The 39-year-old Aussie used a one-time, top 25 career money list exemption for his Tour status this past season after finishing 137th on the money list in 2009. It was the first time since his rookie season of 1996 that he had finished outside the top 125.

The Greenbrier was Appleby's ninth career PGA Tour title. Appleby, who also won the JBWere Masters in Australia in November, finished 38th on this year's Tour money list.
