DORAL, Fla. – Play has been suspended for a second time in the first round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
An approaching storm halted play at 2:22 p.m. ET. Play resumed at 4:45 p.m., but the horn blew again at 5:58 p.m., with golfers allowed to finish the hole they were playing. The first round is scheduled to resume at 8:45 a.m. Friday.
Winds gusting to 25 mph made the redesigned Blue Monster play particularly tough, and only 17 players were under par when play was halted the first time.
“It’s tough out there, but it’s good they got off the course,” said one caddie. “This looks bad.”
World No. 1 Tiger Woods was 2 over through 10 holes when play was halted for the day. Jason Dufner, Harris English, Hunter Mahan, Francesco Molinari and Patrick Reed were tied for the lead at 3 under. Only English had completed his round.
