ORLANDO, Fla. – Arnold Palmer likes players with “style.”
That’s why he was pleased to hear Thursday that Rickie Fowler was off to a fast start atop the leaderboard in the first round of the Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Disney World.
You’ll hear Palmer tell Golf Channel’s Kelly Tilghman how important he thinks developing “style” is to a player’s game during Golf Channel’s 12 Nights at the Academy. During taping Thursday morning, he told Tilghman that a distinctive style was important to a player’s purpose and that it should even seep into the way he walks. The instruction series premiers Nov. 29 with Palmer’s episode airing as the last show at 7 p.m. (ET) on Dec. 10.
“He’s dynamite,” Palmer said of Fowler as he left the show's taping in his workroom/garage at Bay Hill. “He looks like he’s got style, and he’s going to work on it and stick with it. He needs to do that.”
By “style,” Palmer doesn’t necessarily mean Fowler’s fashion tastes.
“Now if he just gets a haircut and a cap that fits him, he’ll be great,” Palmer cracked. “And stops wearing orange.”
