Asia-Pacific Amateur headed to China, Australia

Nanshan International Golf Club in China will host the 2013 Asia-Pacific Amateur, and the 2014 edition will be held at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia, tournament organizers announced Wednesday.

The annual event is organized by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, The Masters Tournament and the R&A. The winner receives an invitation into the Masters, and both the winner and runner-up earn spots in International Final Qualifying for the British Open.

The 2013 tournament will be played on the Danling Garden Course at Nanshan International GC, which recently staged a OneAsia event. Royal Melbourne, meanwhile, was the site of last year’s Presidents Cup.

This week’s Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, which begins Thursday at Amata Spring Country Club in Thailand, features 120 players from the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation’s 36 member associations.
