AT&T champ Haas has new perspective on fatherhood

BETHESDA, Md. – Throughout his entire career, Bill Haas has lived in the shadow of his father, Jay, a longtime PGA Tour veteran who now competes on the Champions Tour.

With the birth of his first child, William Harlan Haas, Jr., last month, now Bill understands it from the other side of things.

“I think it's certainly changed me,” he said. “Hopefully, I'm a better person. I think he'll make me a better person. I don't know why. The first week out after having him, I played well at Memorial. And there I didn't have a great Sunday.

“There was a couple times today, I was going over a couple balls, and I said, ‘You get to go home and see William this week. This drive is not that big of a deal.’ Maybe that helps. Maybe just that one little thought keeps you in perspective.”
