Atwal says Woods unaffected by doubters

AUGUSTA, Ga. – After skipping a practice round in Tuesday’s high winds, Tiger Woods played Augusta National Wednesday with friends Arjun Atwal and Mark O’Meara.

Woods practices a lot with Atwal, a fellow Isleworth Country Club member, in Windermere, Fla. They took a trip together on Monday of last week to play Augusta National. Atwal probably sees Woods’ game up close more than any other player.

“He’s really close,” Atwal said. “Like he said, if he can just bring it out now. It's time to bring it out, and he’s going to do just fine around here, because this is like his home course. It’s just a matter of him bringing it from the range to the tee. At home, it’s really, really good.”

Atwal was asked if all of Woods’ doubters are motivating the 14-time major championship winner.

“He doesn’t care about what people think about his being a favorite or not,” Atwal said. “His mindset never changes, it’s always the same.”
