Augusta looking at book, not cover

The most important takeaway from the inclusion of female members at Augusta National is that, as a society, we’re finally moving away from compartmentalizing people based on gender, race or religion and instead, are moving toward celebrating the achievements and successes of individuals.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and South Carolina financier Darla Moore are exemplary women who are hard-working, intelligent and fully deserving of the recognition and membership they have been extended.

Augusta National is to be applauded for looking beyond a book’s cover and instead, basing their membership decisions on what’s written in these storied women’s pages – women who bring as much to the table as their male counterparts and are the type of individuals worthy of this honor.

My hope is this move by Augusta inspires more women to work hard to achieve their dreams, which we now know, can include becoming members at Augusta National.
