Bad weather looming over Ryder Cups start

RSS

NEWPORT, Wales – American and European Ryder Cup players are working on their games in cool temperatures under overcast skies in Thursday's final practice sessions, but there’s trouble forecast for Friday’s start of play.

There is a 90 percent chance of precipitation with heavy rain expected in the morning and through the early afternoon. It also rained in Wednesday’s practice sessions.

Poor weather’s projected to favor the Europeans.

“Whatever happens, happens,” American captain Corey Pavin said. “I can’t control Mother Nature.”

No rain’s forecast for the weekend but there are concerns that a stoppage of play on Friday would force the Ryder Cup into Monday. With short days in October, there won't be much time to make up suspended rounds.
